I am not what happened to me. I am what I choose to become.

Welcome!

Jungian Analysis aims to foster self-knowledge and autonomy through honest conversation in a safe environment.

As a senior candidate in Jungian Analysis training with the Ontario Association of Jungian Analysts and member of the Canadian Association of Psychodynamic Therapists, I offer confidential psychotherapy to adults in a nonjudgmental and collaborative setting.

The analytic process is dedicated to making space for change so that you are better able to learn from life’s difficult truths while enhancing your capacity for creativity and connection.

Our work together will be supervised by a seasoned Jungian Analyst and member of both the  International Association of Jungian Analysts (Zurich) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

My consulting space is conveniently located in the Glebe, within walking distance of Ottawa's downtown core, with easy access to the Queensway, public transit, and bike paths.

Why Jungian Analysis?

Why Jungian Analysis

Carl Jung (1875-1961) pioneered a psychoanalytic approach rooted in depth psychology. Jung observed deep patterns of unconscious imagery in his practice. He realized that recognizing and integrating these unconscious symbols often provided a reliable foundation for inner healing.

Jung’s approach is both realistic and optimistic. The psychological impacts of anxiety and depression, as well as difficulties in families, relationships, life transitions, and trauma, often leave us feeling overwhelmed.

But these challenges are also opportunities for lasting personal growth. The crises of life spur us to explore: to open up to a life that is truer to our nature, to find or deepen our creative voice,

and to feel more at peace with ourselves and connected with others.

Jungian Analysis has the potential to foster lasting personal change. It is an effective way to come to terms with difficult life situations and establish a more fulfilling life.

Jungian Analysis can help with...

Colorful Leaf
Relationships

Difficulties forming and navigating relationships are often related to family history, trauma, or loss.

Our therapeutic alliance allows you to risk being yourself in a safe environment so that issues including sexuality, gender identity, shame, and social insecurities can be worked through.

Creativity

The unconscious is the source of creativity. This is most evident during life’s transitional passages, when dream symbols offer a portal to our creative spirit, whether it is expressed in visual arts, music, dance, or the creative process of a full engagement with life itself.

To paraphrase Jung, creation is accomplished by the play instinct acting from inner necessity.

Dreamwork

The symbolic language of dreams invites us to see what is happening below the surface of our lives. Dreams do the work of integrating our unconscious with our conscious lives, often providing glimpses of untapped internal resources.

Dream-work is an essential way of knowing what is really going on with the whole person.

Optimizing Life Transitions
Colorful Branch

Life-altering transitions such as graduation, marriage or divorce, retirement, and ageing are often frightening times.  Jungian analysis can help transform these inevitable life challenges into valuable opportunities for personal growth.

Our sessions will help you recognize both the obstacles to your personal growth and your own potential. Jungian analysis is an effective way to come to terms with difficult life situations, foster lasting personal change, and establish a more fulfilling life.

Anxiety / Depression

Anxiety and depression affect the whole person: emotionally, cognitively, and physiologically.

But negative symptoms are potentially helpful because they draw attention to an imbalance. Depression could result from suppressing particular feelings. Perhaps anxiety is linked to not following a path that is true to your nature.

Jung saw the psyche as a self-regulating system: our thoughts, feelings, dreams, and intuitions have a healing purpose which is linked to finding the meaning of our symptoms. In this way, painful symptoms may become not only manageable but instructive.

Somewhere, right at the bottom of one's own being, one generally knows

where one should go and what one should do.

Our Work

Our Work

You have an innate wisdom that can provide insights about how to resolve your issues. My role is to help you recognize that inner wisdom.

There are times when the Jungian approach will spark a sudden insight to a specific concern. More often, Jungian analysis requires patient, steadfast, and deliberate inner work.

Our sessions will allow you to talk about what you are experiencing and feeling. It will provide a safe place to reflect on how past experiences may influence your present life and relationships.

Beginning...

I welcome you to email me and arrange for a free 20-minute phone conversation in which we can talk about your interest and what you hope to gain from the analytic process.

I will answer all your questions as openly as I can so you can decide whether you’d then like to continue our sessions on a regular basis.

The duration and focus of therapy varies depending on your concerns. Therapy fees are $100 per 60 minute hour.

Please note that although I am not accepting new clients at this time, I maintain a waiting list.
